*(Something
'Shibui'
looks effortlessly
simple
as its rich and subtle beauty
has an impact on us . . .
yet much labor and refinement
made it so . . .
for it has often arisen
from the ashes
of a challenge!)

About me . . .
I
was born to creatively artistic parents
who provided an atmosphere of Bricolage
(a French word meaning . . . to take the ordinary,
every-day items at hand
and transform them into the extra-ordinary).
Although
I have never considered myself an artist
as drawing was not one of my 'Gifts'. . .
those years of living in moment-to-moment creativity with my parents
are now the basis for the way I live . . .
and . . .
in often-times providing . . .
creative experiences for those with no experience!
Considering
myself more a 'creative' than artist or 'designer',
wherever I have lived
throughout these United States,
I have transformed my living space
into a creative space.
That way, no room is 'labeled' for only one type of activity.
I love to set up my supplies in the kitchen
and work late into the night.
For some reason, that seems more comfortable
than working in the room designated 'studio'.
(Perhaps from early training in our family
sitting at the kitchen table
and
doing projects together . . .
like family Christmas cards!)

One does not need a studio
to be an 'artist'
or a 'designer'
or a 'creative' . . .
One needs only . . .
TO BEGIN!
Then . . . LIFE will live through you . . .
CREATIVELY!

We are beginning to
walk in the footprints of our Soul . . .
The echo of the Ancient Future
ringing in our heart,
guiding us onward!

My home is reminiscent of . . .
colours,
symbols,
textures
and
flavors
of Minoan Palaces
and Southwest Zen
all in the true style of Bricolage!

Mission Statement ~ Nov. 13, 2002
In
this world,
I am called to 'model'
a 'genuinely
art-full life'
by
marrying my STRENGTHS
(of humor, initiative, resourcefulness,
straight-forwardness, perseverance
and ability to listen to
the
'soul's echo'
behind the spoken words)
with my DELIGHT
in playing with
colour and emotive forms . . .
the result of which have
the
synesthetic effect
of INVENTING a mysterious,
yet responsive union
between 'the space'
or 'the work'
and those who enter it or view it!!!
WOWIE . . . what a lot of words!!!
Simply put: "I'm a Way of Life"!!!
Always fun to go back and read our writings!

My wonderful
new 'old barnwood' tea shelves.
(I didn't realize I had a 'collection' of tea bowls
until we started putting them on the new shelves!!!)
